2 Chainz drops 'I Wanna Win'
Empire
The song is the fourth release from the Red Clay Soundtrack
Following the release of “Atlanta” featuring Ronald Isley & The Isley Brothers, “Sista Wives” featuring Lil Yachty, and “Not the Same” featuring Ne-Yo, 2 Chainz continues the rollout of the Red Clay soundtrack with his latest single, “I Wanna Win” via Empire. Each track has tapped into a different layer of emotion and storytelling tied to the short film Red Clay, which 2 Chainz produced and co-wrote with Omar Epps. The song captures the drive that defined 2 Chainz’s journey from the streets of Atlanta to global recognition.
The song opens with the recognizable intro from Crystal Waters’ “Gypsy Woman,” leading into 2 Chainz’s hook as the beat comes in “I wanna win, I wanna win.” The beat sets the tone as 2 Chainz delivers his first verse that reflects ambition and resilience, with lines like “Back against the wall, I do shit like this” and “Get rich, got a plan, consistency and talent mix.” He further emphasizes his journey on the second verse before grounding the song in its roots with a reference to the film: “I’ve been made for some shit like this / Where I’m from, they’ll put you in a grave for shit like this, Red Clay soil.” The song balances personal reflection with a strong sense of purpose, connecting closely to the themes of Red Clay.
The official music video for “I Wanna Win,” directed by SHI, opens with a youth basketball game being set up where we see 2 Chainz’s son, Halo, arrive in a Rolls-Royce as the game begins. Throughout the video, 2 Chainz performs his verses courtside and inside a garage surrounded by vintage luxury cars, including a classic Mercedes. The video closes with Halo making a game-winning shot, a powerful reflection of the song's meaning of ambition and rising to the moment. As the credits roll, the kids and attendees celebrate on the court, dancing and enjoying the moment.
