Shakira postpones San Antonio show due to structural issue with staging

Shakira is working on rescheduling the performance

Shakira has been forced to postpone her sold out show in San Antonio, Texas for tonight (Fri, June 13th) due to a structural issue with the staging. The global superstar shared the news on social media, stating she's working on a solution to prevent this from happening again.

"To perform in each city, we rely on a third party who locally provides the infrastructure to support the stage and the ceiling from which my production hangs," she writes. "I am so sad to inform you what I have been told: That due to a structural issue with a truss provided by this third-party company to support my stage, we are being forced to reschedule my sold-show in San Antonio originally panned for tonight, June 13th."

This is Shakira's third concert affected by structural issues. Earlier this month, she, along with Jason Aldean and Brooks & Dunn, were forced to cancel concerts at Fenway Park in Boston due to structural issues. Shakira also had to cancel a performance in Washington, DC for the same reason.

"After a problem with the third-party structure in Boston, I personally demanded the addition of a new group of engineers and I have met directly with the company so that it could be thoroughly re-evaluated," she continues. "After a detailed review, the company experts and engineers personally promised me that they had reinforced the structure and they guaranteed me 100% the safety and reliability of the show going forward."

She apologizes to the fans, saying, "To not be able to perform for you tonight deeply affects me and my fans in San Antonio. I am here, devastated and heartbroken."

Shakira doesn't expect additional shows to be affected.

"Our shows will go on in Houston starting on Monday and I'm here trying to find a solution so I can reschedule this San Antonio show for the coming days."

Live Nation confirms that info on a reschedule date is forthcoming.

"Unfortunately, Shakira’s performance tonight has been postponed due to structural issues. All previously purchased tickets will be honored for the new date once announced. More information will be emailed to ticketholders directly when available. We apologize for the inconvenience," the company shares.

The Latin star is currently on her massive Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour. Following incredible fan demand and production changes, Shakira postponed the 2024 North American leg to spring 2025, with several markets upgraded to stadiums, including Boston.
