Both shows are canceled this weekend due to "unforeseen circumstances"
The Shakira concert scheduled for tonight (Thurs, May 29th) and tomorrow's (Fri, May 30th) Jason Aldean and Brooks & Dunn concerts at Fenway Park have been canceled due to "unforeseen circumstances."
Live Nation's statement reads, "Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Shakira and Jason Aldean and Brooks & Dunn performances originally scheduled for May 29th and May 30th respectively at Fenway Park have been canceled. Refunds will be available at your point of purchase. We apologize for the inconvenience."
Local news reports cite the cancelations are due to a safety concern with the staging that was discovered during rehearsals this afternoon with WCVB confirming the stage was not "structurally sound" during a pre-show inspection by Boston Inspectional Services. Sources also state the cancelations are not linked to any security concerns and that all employees are safe.
We've reached out to the venue and artists' reps for clarification but haven't received a response as of press time.
The venue was the next stop on Shakira's massive Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour. Following incredible fan demand and production changes, Shakira postponed the 2024 North American leg to spring 2025, with several markets upgraded to stadiums, including Boston.
Country music powerhouses Jason Aldean and Brooks & Dunn were set to co-headline the famous venue on May 30th. The highly anticipated one-off event was to see the acts deliver an electrifying evening of music to fans under the Fenway lights. Nate Smith and RaeLynn were set to support.
