Greenwich Entertainment has released the official US trailer for AngelHeaded Hipster: The Songs of Marc Bolan and T. Rex, a visually rich and musically daring new documentary that cements Marc Bolan’s legacy as one of rock and roll’s most revolutionary and poetic figures.

Directed by Ethan Silverman and produced by legendary music manager Bill Curbishley (The Who, Judas Priest), AngelHeaded Hipster tells Bolan’s story through a kaleidoscope of archival performances, rare interviews, stylized cinematic sequences, and powerful musical reinterpretations. The film is centered around the making of the Hal Willner–produced tribute album of the same name and features bold, cross-generational performances from artists like U2, Nick Cave, Joan Jett, Father John Misty, John Cameron Mitchell, Macy Gray, and more.

Far from a conventional music documentary, AngelHeaded Hipster reimagines Bolan’s world as a vibrant collision of glam, poetry, and personal evolution. It’s a journey that cuts between vérité studio sessions and the glittering legacy of songs like “Bang a Gong (Get It On),” “Metal Guru,” and “Children of the Revolution.” The film also features never-before-seen moments with icons such as Elton John, Ringo Starr, and David Bowie, offering intimate insight into Bolan’s genius and enduring impact. “In an era urgently revisiting the roots of self-expression, identity, and cultural rebellion, AngelHeaded Hipster shows Bolan not just as a glam icon but as a blueprint for creative freedom.”

AngelHeaded Hipster opens in theaters on August 8th and will be available everywhere on demand beginning September 5th.
