The project features her first Top 25 Billboard Hot 100 hit

Mariah The Scientist has announced her highly anticipated fourth studio album, Hearts Sold Separately, due August 22nd via Epic Records. The bombshell announcement follows a blistering recent streak for Mariah, who has taken the R&B world by storm with the release of her latest single and music video, the Apple Music chart-topping “Burning Blue,” Mariah’s first Top 25 and rising Billboard Hot 100 hit.

Along with the album announcement, Mariah has been named an official voting member of The Recording Academy, the host institution of the annual Grammy Awards. “I’m honored to be part of the Recording Academy’s 2025 New Membership Class. I’ve always made music from a real place — honest, vulnerable, mine,” Mariah said in an exclusive statement. “To be invited into a space that uplifts artists like me is a full circle moment.”

Ahead of the surprise album announcement, Mariah basked in the co-sign of a lifetime during Essence Fest weekend in New Orleans when she chatted exclusively with People about “Burning Blue” being named Rihanna’s go-to karaoke choice during the megastar’s recent press tour in Europe.

“I feel like I’ve been waiting on this, okay?” Mariah excitedly admitted. Rihanna, not known for doling out co-signs, was visibly impressed by Mariah’s work when she made the original mention. “Oh my gosh, it’s ‘Burning Blue’,” she confirmed to the UK’s Capital FM.

This month, she will be performing at “Summer in the Park” on July 24th in Connecticut and next month, before the release of Hearts Sold Separately, Mariah will be performing at Lollapalooza in Chicago in August.
