"Burnpile" is available now via Warner Records

Heating up summer, platinum-certified rising Texas-based country rock quintet Pecos & The Rooftops ignite an incendiary new single entitled “Burnpile,” available via Warner Records. Once again, the track was co-produced with longtime collaborator Andrew Baylis and Dan Pellarin.

The song sparks a smoldering send-off to an ex and her illicit paramour. However, frontman, vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter Pecos Hurley takes it one step further, gleefully bringing a big-screen revenge fantasy to life in the lyrics. Sunny acoustic chords give way to an apocalyptically catchy chorus as he confesses, “I hope you choke on the smoke. Now you can cheat with a ghost.” It culminates on a fret-burning guitar lead and arena-ready singalong, “Made a match that’s getting ready to light. Yeah, I’ve been working on my burnpile.”

Hurley explains, "'Burnpile' is a song about a disturbed person getting back at their ex that has moved on to the person that they cheated with. There is humor, sarcasm and violence. It’s the intrusive thoughts that everyone has in that situation, written down in a song. Being the last single before the album, we knew it had to be a hard hitter and I feel like that’s just what it is. Whether you think it’s disturbing, or you can relate to the situation, it’s an attention grabber that leaves you longing for the rest of the album that is soon to follow."

It arrives hot on the heels of “Rock Song.” The latter has just begun to surge on DSPs, clocking over one million streams and counting already. “Rock Song” followed the recent anthem “11 Beers.” Continuing a prolific run for the group, other singles have included “Sweet Tumbleweed” and “Missing Peace.”

“Missing Peace” landed in the wake of “One Drunk Summer,” which notably marked the group’s first release since their self-titled debut album in 2023. It houses signature staples such as “5 AM,” “Hurt No More,” “Last Thing I Remember,” “Bricks,” and “She Says.”

The group is in the midst of a string of summer headline dates and festival appearances. They have been perfecting a signature heavy blend of lowdown country and classic rock since their inception, with the band living in a big five-bedroom house in Lubbock, Texas. Formed in 2019 by a tight-knit squad of college friends, the band outfits their soulful Americana with muscular guitar grit, yet remains tuneful and melodic. They’ve carved out a singular niche for themselves in the rich songwriting tradition of their home state, as evidenced by their debut Warner Records single “5 AM,” which has amassed over 34.7 million global streams to date.

Pecos & The Rooftops chose their name—a nod to the part of the house they’d hang out, drink beers, and jam on—just before self-releasing their debut single, 2019’s slow-burning “This Damn Song.” It was a runaway success, earning an RIAA platinum certification and going on to rack up over 500 million streams globally. Deciding to ride the wave for as long as they could, the band hit the road immediately after and haven’t stopped since, touring relentlessly on the club and festival circuit opening for the likes of country star Koe Wetzel. They released the Red Eye EP in 2020, expanding on their already solid sound with extra emphasis on guitar structures and complex yet melodic arrangements, hinting at jazz and psychedelic influences.
