The album drops this fall

The Favors, featuring Finneas and Ashe, announce their debut album, The Dream, will be released on September 19th via Darkroom Records. To celebrate, the duo shares "The Hudson."

Ashe opens the first verse over soft piano as she sets the scene, “The trees were bare and naked, and so were we—two old strangers sharing really personal things.” Her higher register amplifies longing for a fading moment as Finneas joins in harmony, “All I’ve ever known is gone. I’ve got nothing but you to lose.” The track builds with steady percussion, gloriously gritty harmonies, and a guitar solo that evokes their old school, era-agnostic approach while the pair reminisce about a passionate yet fleeting relationship that plays out in familiar scenes through New York City.

Directed by Alex Lockett, the official music video channels its retro inspiration and emotional tension, featuring the duo by the river in a nostalgic, film-like style. Black-and-white scenes and cinematic shots are interspersed with colorful, somber moments that build tension as the song unfolds.

“Part of the band identity involves these characters who are singing about an experience to each other,” Finneas observes about the track. “It’s a musical theater design, and it rarely happens in pop. You can picture two individuals in an apartment overlooking the Hudson singing about the same thing.”

Longtime friends and collaborators – award-winning singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and composer Finneas and multi-platinum artist Ashe first captured hearts with their 2019 hit “Moral of the Story” and followed it up with 2021’s “Till Forever Falls Apart.” “The Hudson” follows The Favors’ debut single “The Little Mess You Made.”
